The R 1300 RT takes my riding style up a notch, whether I’m out on a tour or just cruising through daily life. The updated ergonomics give me a more active, commanding seat position that really connects me to the road. With optional upgrades like the Sport brake, the improved Shift Assistant Pro, and the new DCA chassis, every ride feels sharper, smoother, and more responsive. It all adds up to a ride that’s not just dynamic – it’s seriously enjoyable.

Simply efficient: The automatic shift assistant

The automated shift assistant on the R 1300 RT brings a whole new level of ease to touring. With automatic clutch and gear changes, long rides feel effortless – just what I want for covering serious distance. I can switch to “D” mode for smooth, efficient cruising, or take full control in “M” mode when I feel like being more hands-on. The boxer engine delivers power exactly when I need it, and the seamless gear changes keep every ride stable and comfortable.

More visibility, more safety: The light technology

Headlight Pro completely changes how I see the road – literally. Its adaptive headlight adjusts as I ride, lighting up the road perfectly even when I’m leaning into curves or riding through changing light on long tours. The optional adaptive modes automatically fine-tune the beam based on speed and conditions, which means better visibility, more safety, and extra comfort. Around town, it lights up a wide area so I can clearly see pavements and crossings. Out on country roads, the beam stretches further ahead but stays broad, giving me a clear view without losing coverage. And at motorway speeds, it focuses even farther into the distance, helping me see what’s coming well in advance.

Optimised wind and weather protection

The optional variable slipstream deflectors give me full control over airflow, so I can tailor the ride to how I’m feeling. Whether I want more breeze or better protection, it’s easy to adjust. In the lower setting, I get a nice flow of air to keep my upper body cool, while the upper position offers solid wind and weather protection – definitely a step up from the previous model.

Even the standard weather protection has been upgraded. Thanks to the new cylinder trim panels, my feet and ankles stay dry, even when I get caught in the rain. It’s those little touches that make every ride more comfortable.
