The final Ocean MINI Beach Clean of the year took place recently at Tinside Lido, bringing together local schoolchildren, community volunteers, and ocean advocates for a morning dedicated to protecting Plymouth’s waterfront.
The school children of St George’s Primary School gathered at Tinside Lido for an engaging ocean conservation talk delivered by the knowledgeable team at Plymouth Sound National Marine Park. The session explored how marine habitats are changing, why conservation matters, and what young people can do to help safeguard the ocean for future generations. Teachers and volunteers praised the talk for being both accessible and inspiring.
“It’s amazing to see how enthusiastic the children are about looking after their beach,” said one team member. “These clean-ups are not just about removing waste—they’re about empowering young people to become guardians of their environment.”
Following the clean-up, the group took part in a hands-on beach clean, learning how everyday actions can have a real impact on the health of our coastline. The children collected litter, identified common types of marine waste, and discussed how pollution affects the local ecosystem.
The event marks the final instalment in this year’s Ocean MINI Beach Clean series, which has involved children from across the city in practical environmental action while strengthening the community’s connection to its iconic waterfront.
