BMW X1 25e
BMW X1 25e DESIGN
Exterior
The X1 series has enjoyed a noticeable makeover, with the plug-in version offering eye-catching good looks from every angle. From the large kidney grille to the new hexagonal LED headlight design, there’s no missing this BMW hybrid. New square fog lights are a change from the round version of previous models, while the full LED taillight and bigger exhaust tailpipes are also talking points of this model. As for the wheels, there are four alloy options available – two 19-inch styles and two 18-inch styles depending on your preference.
The X1 also comes with an optional projector from the side mirror which creates a logo on the floor. Select this and you’ll also benefit from interior LED lighting in multiple colours.
Interior
Hop inside the X1 25e and you’ll discover a spacious, organised environment with an abundance of leg and headroom. While the battery is stored under the rear seats, interior seating space isn’t at all compromised and there’s still plenty of SUV storage in the boot. Beautiful contrast stitching on the dashboard adds to the quality of the cabin while the brilliant build quality and materials leave no doubt that this is an upmarket ride.
The infotainment system is also one of the best in the market in any class. It’s been upgraded and now comes with a 10.25-inch screen that’s intuitive to use and displays crisp, clear colour graphics whether you’re using the satellite navigation functionality or making the most of Apple CarPlay.
Performance
Built with efficiency in mind, this muscular, powerful model comes with a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine as well as a 9.7-kWh lithium ion battery. It can travel an impressive 34 miles on pure electric power and has a top, electric-only speed of 84 mph. Making a statement in the family SUV section, this plug-in hybrid is also light to handle and boasts finely tuned suspension. The charge port is neatly located at the front of the car.
As with all hybrid models, the petrol engine kicks in when more power is needed or when the battery energy is depleted, so you can always guarantee a reliable ride.
