Performance

The biggest change can be seen in the drivetrain, which offers a three-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine combined with a more powerful battery-operated motor. The lithium ion battery pack now stores 12 kWh which delivers 16 electric-only miles, while the total system output is now 389 horsepower. The eight-speed automatic transmission also helps to get this electrified model to 60 mph in just 4.9 seconds.

Acceleration is responsive even on electric-only mode and the steering is light, making even the tightest of manoeuvres simple. Suspension is also finely tuned allowing you to enjoy a smooth ride.

Immediately recognisable out on the road, the BMW 745e comes with striking exterior design elements including a bolder and more eye-catching kidney grille, which is 40% larger than before. This is joined by narrower headlights, a new bumper with air dams and slimmer, three dimensional light housings at the back. Wider exhaust outlets also give this vehicle a powerful, sporty vibe while the sizable alloys, in a range of sizes depending on trim level, grip the road with confidence.

Interior

While the interior hasn’t changed considerably, there’s more dramatic accent stitching and six-colour ambient lighting as standard. The cabin remains supremely plush with top notch materials and plenty of space up front and in the back. Selected models also come with power adjustable and massaging seating options for your comfort, as well as numerous technology upgrades including the latest iDrive 7 infotainment system. This has a 10.25-inch touchscreen and offers everything from satellite navigation to a WiFi hotspot and Apple CarPlay for smartphone syncing. Voice control with BMW’s intelligent Personal Assistant is also a great touch as well as Bluetooth which promotes hands-free motoring as standard.
