We recently had the pleasure of collaborating with Falmouth University on our second micro-internship, this time we allowed the student Ben Hope to choose from BMW M or BMW i, he chose BMW i as he was excited around the electric car industry and it’s importance for a sustainable future.
Ben had a brilliant vision to show off our electric BMW i4, by capturing its beauty, performance and sustainable electric power. He worked closely with our Marketing team to build a social media campaign that reflects just this.
He carefully planned and executed a campaign asset, capturing this locally in and around a beach in Falmouth and using raw sounds from this area.
Ben said “I loved working with BMW on this digital marketing internship. I’ve always had a huge passion for cars, and as a music producer with a passion for content creation I felt this opportunity suited me perfectly. I chose the i4 as I feel it represented Cornwall and the target demographic perfectly and based all my decisions around this. I spent weeks brainstorming and analysing different social media tactics from BMW and other similar social media accounts.
Using this, I decided to create a piece that targets both the older generation and the vibrant young generation we have in Cornwall. I focused on creating a fast-paced engaging video. I used my experience in music producing to create a special 30-second song supporting my video. All the sounds I used to create the track were either sounds the car makes or sounds that signify electricity, nature, and the feeling I want people to experience when in the car. A few examples would be the car accelerating/decelerating, thunder & lightning, and fast-paced human breath. I feel this added a new dimension to my video, which in turn made it feel more immersive and authentic.
Overall, I’m glad I was able to combine my love of content creation and my music, and I really enjoyed the process of working with one of my favourite brands. I would like to thank Megan Day for allowing me this opportunity and Jono Tarrant and Sten Gauthier for helping film the car.”
